Faculty Profile

  • Entering into the world of unlimited opportunities through chemical expertise

Chemistry plays a role in everyone's lives and touches almost every aspect of our existence in many ways. Chemistry is essential for meeting our basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, health, energy, clean air, water, and soil. Chemical technologies enrich our quality of life in numerous ways by providing new solutions to problems in health, materials, and energy usage. Thus, studying chemistry is useful in preparing us for the real world. The study of chemistry spans the range from qualitative in focus to quantitative. Chemicals are everywhere and are everything. Anything you can hear, taste, touch or smell or see contains one or more chemicals. And hearings, seeing, tasting, and touching all involve a series of chemical reactions and interactions in our body. With such an enormous range of topics, it is essential to know about chemistry. Studying chemistry can lead to jobs in cutting-edge technologies within science and research as well as roles outside the laboratory. A degree in chemistry opens doors to a wide variety of employment opportunities. Your skills will also be in demand in other areas. A study of chemistry helps you develop logical thought and numerical skills and the ability to write accurate and concise reports. As a result, our chemists are in demand in national and local government, in hospitals and in education at all levels.

The Department of Chemistry was established in 1958 for teaching The Department of Chemistry was established in 1958 for teaching the subject at undergraduate level. In 1969 permission was granted by government & University of Jabalpur (Now known as R D University, Jabalpur) to run Postgraduate course i.e. MSc Chemistry with specialization in three disciplines, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry. This is the biggest department of the college with sixteen sanctioned posts. Chemistry is a compulsory subject in seven course combinations, offered at undergraduate level. The faculty members are qualified, devoted & regularly participate in academic activities for their academic growth. Over the years the department has maintained its standards in the field of teaching, research, and other academic & administrative activities.

“Biochemistry” is the science concerned with Chemical Nature & is the science concerned with Chemical Nature & Chemical behaviour of the Living Matter. It has a wide scope in the field of Medical, Pharmaceutical, Nutritional, Environmental, and Clinical Diagnosis. Looking at the scope of the subject, Biochemistry was introduced at undergraduate level in 1994–95; with the initial financial assistance from UGC under the scheme of “vocationalization of courses at undergraduate level” Presently this course is run under the self-finance scheme.
