हिंदी विभाग का परिचय
शासकीय गृह विज्ञान एवं विज्ञान महाविद्यालय, जबलपुर के हिंदी विभाग का गौरवशाली इतिहास और प्रगतिशील परंपरा इसे मध्यप्रदेश के उच्च शिक्षा प्रणाली में एक विशिष्ट स्थान प्रदान करती है। यह विभाग हिंदी भाषा और संस्कृति के गहन अध्ययन एवं अनुसंधान को समर्पित है।
हिंदी विभाग का उद्देश्य विद्यार्थियों को न केवल भाषा में पारंगत करना है, बल्कि उन्हें भारतीय संस्कृति और परंपराओं की गहरी समझ प्रदान करना भी है। विभाग भाषा के व्यावहारिक और सैद्धांतिक पक्षों को संतुलित रूप से प्रस्तुत करता है, जिससे विद्यार्थियों का सर्वांगीण विकास हो सके।
विभाग में मध्यप्रदेश उच्च शिक्षा प्रणाली के दिशा-निर्देशों के अनुरूप वार्षिक प्रणाली (Year System) लागू है। यह प्रणाली विद्यार्थियों को हिंदी के विविध पक्षों—काव्य, गद्य, आलोचना, भाषा विज्ञान और समसामयिक हिंदी लेखन—का व्यवस्थित और व्यापक अध्ययन कराती है।

- नियमित कक्षाओं के साथ-साथ साहित्यिक संगोष्ठियों, कार्यशालाओं और प्रतियोगिताओं का आयोजन किया जाता है।
- विद्यार्थियों को शोध और सृजनात्मक लेखन के लिए प्रेरित किया जाता है।
- भाषा के आधुनिक संदर्भों और तकनीकी युग में हिंदी के प्रयोग पर विशेष ध्यान दिया जाता है।

Introduction to The Department of English
Language department forms a part of the college since its establishment in the year 1954. Since then it has been enriching the languages of the students both English as well as Hindi, Thus enabling them a better grasp of their core subjects. It also prepares them to write and communicate through flawless language by teaching them the basics.
The Department of English at Government Home Science and Science College for Women, Jabalpur, was established with a vision to foster linguistic excellence and enhance the communicative abilities of students. English is taught as a foundational subject, mandatory for undergraduate students from both Science and Home Science streams. The department strives to equip learners with proficiency in English, emphasizing practical usage to prepare them for diverse professional and academic pursuits.
Besides this the department has been imparting knowledge of other subjects such as Environmental Education, Entrepreneurship Development, Digital Awareness & Cyber Securities, Yoga, Women Empowerment, Personality Development & Character Building, Tourism and Web Designing as a part of the curriculum.
The faculty members also prepare the students for participating in different literary activities such as speech, debate, essay writing etc. at different levels such as college, inter-college, district etc. The pedagogical approach goes beyond traditional classroom teaching, incorporating extracurricular activities to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Events such as quiz competitions, debates, and elocution contests are regularly organized at both college and intercollegiate levels, encouraging students to engage actively and showcase their talents.
To cater to the evolving needs of modern education, the college has established a well-equipped Computer Laboratory with 21 computers and broadband connectivity. This facility is utilized to teach the paper “Basics of Computer and Information Technology” to students in their third year as part of their foundational coursework. Free internet access is provided to every student, ensuring they remain connected to global knowledge resources and develop essential technological skills.
The Department of English continues to play a pivotal role in shaping confident, articulate, and tech-savvy individuals, contributing significantly to their holistic development.
