Value added course /Add On Course “Computer”    

CPE LAB I & II    

Aims

Value added meaning such courses which are done in addition to the curriculum. The goal of a computer value-added course is to improve a student's employability skills and provide them learner centric technical training .

It is a type of part-time course which can be pursued with any regular course of study. The choice of subject can be from any stream

The value-added courses are delivered using a combination of lectures, classroom discussions, and interactive sessions. The sections will be followed through conduct of evaluation tests to assess the understanding of the participants.

In these courses, students do their practical work, assignments, and exams in the teacher’s presence. A physical copy of the certificate is given after course completion

Objectives

  • This Course is introduced with the objective of adding value to the knowledge of students of other streams.
  • Add-on courses help students acquire skills and knowledge that are not covered in their core curriculum
  • Skills for recognize and promote of ethical decisions in the workplace.
  • To improve employability skills of students and develop specialized knowledge and practical skills
  • To prepare well groomed & technically proficient computer professionals to meet up with the demands of challenging industry and societal needs.
  • To empowering the youth in rural communities with computer education.

  • They may range from a few weeks to a few months, allowing learners to acquire new skills without a significant time commitment.

This Course is open for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students of college.

Student can registered in these courses in their free time in college

he computer laboratory was established under the UGC scheme,“Colleges with Potential for Excellence” (awarded in 2012)

Course Details
  • The laboratory is equipped with

    • 25 i5 computers
    • LCD projector
    • Broadband facility (2Mbps) on every computer

  • Broadband facility is free for all students.
  • The computer laboratory remains open from 08:30 am to 05:30pm.
  • Undergraduate & postgraduate students of other classes are encouraged to use computer and Internet in their free time.
  • Looking at the economic status of students the college does not charge any additional fee for this course.

Under the computer literacy programme the college has introduced ” add on course” on “computer basics” without charging additional fee”. This course is compulsory for all first & second semester students. Basic Knowledge of “working with computer” helps the students to progress in their career and stay tuned with the recent times. The progress of the students is judged by the test and certificate is awarded after the examination. The emphasis is given on practicals so that at the time of graduation the girls are well versed with documentation, data entry, power point presentation and Internet surfing. This skill-oriented course provides better placement opportunities. The other aspect of the scheme is that the girls, who cannot afford to learn use of computer privately due to very high fee and other social constraints, are made computer literate. Looking at the economic status of students the college does not charge any additional fee for this course.
